Scope & Services
Scope & Services.
Full bathroom remodels, walk-in shower installation, tub-to-shower conversions, master bathroom renovations, accessible / ADA bathrooms, isolated shower renovations, bathroom tile installation. We do everything from a shower retile to a full gut to the studs. We do NOT do kitchens, whole-house remodels, or exteriors.
No. We specialize in bathrooms only. If you want a contractor who does bathrooms 52 weeks a year, that's us. If you want one generalist who does kitchens, decks, and bathrooms, we're not the right fit.
No. Our minimum project is a shower renovation or isolated tile replacement. For isolated repairs, we recommend a qualified licensed Massachusetts plumber.
Yes. We build basement bathrooms, attic bathrooms, and second-floor bathroom additions. These projects require plumbing rough-in work and coordination with the main stack — we handle it all. Typical timeline: 4–6 weeks.
Yes. We have a dedicated licensed plumber and licensed electrician on the crew — both with us 8+ years. All plumbing and electrical work is done in-house under permit, not subbed out to rotating contractors.
Service Area
Service Area.
We cover 65 towns across 10 counties from our Shrewsbury shop — Middlesex, Worcester, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Plymouth, Bristol, Hampden, Hampshire and Berkshire. There is no trip charge inside our service area. Our service areas page lists every town with its own local page.
No. We're Massachusetts specialists — Massachusetts only. We don't know the Queens and Brooklyn permit processes as well as Massachusetts/Suffolk, and we won't fake expertise we don't have.
Cost & Pricing
Cost & Pricing.
It depends far more on what is behind the walls than on the finishes you pick. Scope, whether plumbing relocates, the condition of the subfloor and whether the home is pre-1978 all move the number more than tile choice does. We walk every bathroom and give a fixed itemized written price within 48 hours. Our pricing page breaks down what drives cost.
Every bathroom is different. Square footage, plumbing relocation, tile selection, fixture tier, permit requirements, structural condition — there's no honest way to price a bathroom sight-unseen. We walk every project and quote firmly in 48 hours.
Things we can't see. Rotted subfloor under a cast iron tub, knob-and-tube wiring behind drywall, failed cast iron waste lines. We call these out in writing before doing the work — no surprise bills.
Yes. Enhancify and GreenSky partners — 6-month deferred interest up to 12-year fixed rate. See /financing/ for details.
10% at signing, 25% at demo start, 25% at rough-in inspection pass, 25% at tile complete, 15% at final punch. MA law caps deposit at 1/3 of contract value.
Timeline & Process
Timeline & Process.
Hall bath: 3–4 weeks. Master bath: 4–6 weeks. Tub-to-shower conversion: 2–3 weeks. Shower-only renovation: 2–3 weeks. Accessible remodel: 3–5 weeks. Permit filing adds 10–14 days upfront in Massachusetts (slightly longer in Suffolk).
1) Free on-site walk (you, Daniel or a PM, 45–60 min). 2) Itemized quote in 48 hours. 3) If you accept, we schedule (usually 4–8 weeks out). 4) Permit filing. 5) Demo + rough-in (week 1). 6) Rough inspection. 7) Tile + waterproofing (weeks 2–3). 8) Finish work (week 3–4). 9) Final inspection + punch list. 10) Permit closed.
Yes, if you have a second bathroom. If this is your only bathroom, we recommend a short hotel stay during the 5–7 days of no-water work. Most clients stay home — we set up dust containment and work clean.
Crew works Monday–Friday, occasionally Saturday for critical deadlines. No Sunday work. Quiet hours 7am–5pm to respect your neighbors.
Permits & Compliance
Permits & Compliance.
Almost always yes. Massachusetts requires permits for any plumbing relocation, electrical changes, or structural work. Replacing fixtures in the exact same location with no plumbing change can sometimes be permit-free — we'll tell you honestly.
We do. Licensed statewide HIC #H2419300 and Suffolk #53120-H. We file, coordinate inspections, and close out the permit. You never go to the building department.
Incorporated villages often have their own building department in addition to or instead of the county. Lexington, Wellesley, Kings Point, Old Westbury, Rockville Centre — we handle village submittals.
Common in older Massachusetts homes. We can often permit the new work without auditing the old, depending on scope. If the inspector flags legacy work, we address it before final. Discuss at the estimate.
Materials & Craftsmanship
Materials & Craftsmanship.
Schluter-Systems is a German-engineered waterproofing brand. Kerdi-Board (wall substrate), Kerdi-Fabric (waterproof membrane), Kerdi-Line (linear drain), Ditra (floor underlayment). These products are the gold standard for bathroom waterproofing — 40+ year lifespan, manufacturer warranty. We are a Schluter-Certified installer.
Cement board + Redgard works. We've used it. But Schluter is a complete system — substrate + membrane + drain + trim all engineered to work together. Fewer failure points. We decided in 2015 to use Schluter on every shower. No exceptions.
Yes — we'll take you to our supplier (or you can source your own). We give you samples at the estimate and walk you through what installs well and what doesn't. Marble is high maintenance. Large-format porcelain is the modern default.
Moen, Kohler, Delta, Grohe, Hansgrohe, Dornbracht — whatever tier you want. Mid-range defaults are Moen and Kohler. Premium is Grohe and Hansgrohe. Luxury is Dornbracht.
Yes. 12x24, 24x24, 24x48, and larger. Large-format reduces grout lines (easier to clean) and makes small spaces feel larger. Requires flat substrate — we use a self-leveling compound and Schluter Ditra for the flattest possible base.
Design & Decisions
Design & Decisions.
Yes. Daniel is an NKBA Certified Bath Designer (CBD). Every project includes layout design, material selection guidance, fixture curation, and a 3D rendering of the finished space before any demo.
Normal. Most Massachusetts homeowners come to us with a feeling, not a spec. We'll show you samples, walk you through options, and build a design you'll love. No decision fatigue.
Yes. We work in traditional (Lexington Colonial, Framingham Cape), transitional (most Massachusetts mid-century), modern (Wellesley contemporary), and coastal (Andover waterfront). We'll match the feel of your home.
Trust & Warranty
Trust & Warranty.
Yes. MA Home Improvement Contractor Reg. #187432 and MA Construction Supervisor License CS-105118, plus $2,000,000 general liability and full workers' compensation. Certificates available on request at the estimate.
Workmanship warranty: 5 years on labor. Waterproofing warranty: 40 years (Schluter manufacturer). Fixture warranty: manufacturer-specific (typically 5–10 years). All in writing at contract signing.
We still come out. Even past warranty, if something we installed fails and it was our fault, we fix it. We'd rather take the hit than leave a bad review unanswered.
Yes. BBB A+ with 12 verified 5-star reviews. Plus 163+ Google reviews (4.9★), 41 Houzz reviews (5.0★), 58 Angi reviews (4.9★).
Yes. We can walk you through a bathroom in progress at the estimate if one is nearby. You'll see exactly how our crew works before you sign anything.
